The Top Ten TV Networks

There are hundred of channels out there, but only so much time we can dedicate to watching it. DVR has definitely changed the way television is watched, giving people the opportunity to watch a wider variety of shows when they want. You can even watch shows that are on at the same time, where in the past you had to choose. Here are the top ten TV Networks, but go ahead and add your own on toptentopten.com.

10. Travel Channel

It's the best way to visit the world from the comfort of your own home. Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations is fascinating as you get to see the different cuisines of the world; tat guy will literally eat anything. You get some great ideas and tips on places to visit when you're not channel surfing.

9. PBS



As long as you can deal with the annual telethon, nothing beats PBS's commercial free programming. Whether you have young children, are into science, politics, history, art, or anything else intellectual, PBS has it all. Nova is a classic and all the local programming gives you a feel for the issues in your own backyard.

8. Food Network


The only thing I like more then watching delicious food is eating it. This station has brought Iron Chef into pop culture, tell me another food show that has been turned into a Wii game. Good Eats is probably the best show on the network currently, so many great ideas and done in an entertaining manner.

7. HGTV

HGTV provides all the information you would ever need to know about buying a home, staging it, selling a home, interior design, landscaping, and DIY projects. You get a glimpse of all the different homes there are out there and he different styles that people choose. It also shows you the dark-side; houses that are in disrepair and people that let their homes fill up with junk. House Hunters is great, guesing which house will be chosen is the best part.

6. Spike TV

This channel was created for those humans that have a Y chromosome, but even the ladies enjoy it. Wide range of television that isn't shown anywhere else, but also replaying some favorites like CSI. UFC is also featured (for free!) and Jesse James is a Dead Man needs to receive a mention.

5. Discovery Channel


Discovery makes science cool. They have one of the largest selection of shows out there on a wide range of topics, some favorites include Man vs. Wild, Deadliest Catch, Mythbusters, Dirty Jobs, Ax-Men, and the spectacular series Planet Earth.

4. HBO

The only premium channel on this list, but much deserved. They feature all the best movies and with DVR, you basically have a library of movies to choose from to watch anytime you want. But it's their TV Shows that have made them so great with the likes of Entourage, Big Love, True Blood, Sex in the City, Deadwood, Weeds, and so on and so on...

3. History Channel

So many great shows that feature some of the most interesting events in history, often bringing new information and footage that has never been seen. Battle's BC is an excellent new show, as well as all their other programs about war.

2. ESPN

Sports all day everyday, and done well. Hands down the best sports programming, ESPN has been the standard for decades. Sportscenter has better journalism then most networks and getting the exclusive looks into your favorite teams and players never grows old.

1. Comedy Central


The funniest channel on TV is an endless barrel of joke cracking monkeys, including Jon Stewart and Steven Colbert. This is also the channel that brought you Chappelle Show and the legendary South Park. The only free place you can watch stand-up comedy, late night they even play sets that are unedited.

The Top Ten Wussiest Dog Breeds

These are the ten wussiest dogs, aka, dogs that girls like to dress up or carry in their purse. Not necessarily because the dog themselves is a wuss, dogs of any breed can be very aggressive and tough. These are dogs that if you are seen with, no matter if you are a roid raging meathead, you will look like a complete wuss.

10. DachshundWussiest enough to make any fireman look like a little girl.

That outfit doesn't make you look wussy, you make you look wussy.

The Top Ten Dog Breeds

There are over 420 breeds of dogs, so narrowing this list down to just ten is almost impossible. Different dogs are great for different reasons; some are cute, some are very smart, and some make great workers. But all dogs are great. This list is the current top ten dog breeds voted by users of toptentopten.com. Without further ado, here are the favorite breeds of Man's best friend.

10. Golden Retreiver
Although initially bred to retrieve (hence the name) birds, Golden's make one of the best family pets. They are typically very gentle and are great with young children. They are also quite intelligent, many are used as guide dogs for the disabled.

9. Rhodesian Ridgeback
These dogs are extremely affectionate and loyal and can be used as both companions and guard dogs. They were initially bred to help track and hunt lions in Africa. They have a signature ridge in their back where the hair grows in the opposite direction.

8. Bischon Frise
They started to make a comeback in popularity in the 70's and now you see them everywhere. This is a very hardy dog that makes a perfect companion, although they are intelligent enough to be a sheep herding dog even though they onl weigh 7-12 pounds.

7. Weimaraner
A majestic gundog that has a signature silver coat. The shorthaired versions seems to be more popular, but they also come in longhair. They are very alert and obedient, as well as having great stamina and endurance.

6. American Eskimo
This dog is very intelligent and friendly making it an excellent family dog. They are a great watchdog that has a natural tendancy to protect it's territory.

5. Beagle
Even though Beagle's are naturally independant, they do make great pets as they are also affectionate and fairly tame. They used to be used to help hunt rabbit and are very obedient.

4. Australian Shepherd
These dogs were actually bred in the US and are extremely popular. They are very intelligent and obedient. They are often used as search and rescue dogs, but are great companions because of their playful and affectionate temprament.

3. Chow Chow
Their origin is disputed but is beleived to be initiialy bred in the Orient, as it was used for its beautiful fur. Looks can be decieving, although it looks cuddly, it can be aggressive and protective of its owner.

2. Shiba Inu
A relative of the much larger Akita, it is the most popular dog in Japan. They seldom bark making them a good household pet, but can be quite independant at times.

1. Siberian Husky
The Husky is very athletic originally used as a sled dog. This dog seldom barks and is very gentle despite its size.
